Hello,
I'm trying to associate an automatic number (item_number) when I create a new documents or parts.
I followed this procedure, but it show an error.
The procedure is:
1. TOC => Administration => Item types => Part => Edit;
2. Properties Tab => Find and select "Item number";
3. Data Type Column => Select "Sequence" from menu
4. Data Source Column => Select the Sequence from list.
5. Save, Unlock and Exit
But when I create a new part and save it, appear an error message:
"the part number field is required. You must provide a value for this field before saving".
Similar problem when I create a new document.
Can you tell me where am I wrong?

You have selected the "Required" check box for this property.
This means that Innovator will be looking for a value for this before it gets passed to the server.
Leave the "Required" unchecked and try it again.
