I have small doubt regarding work item or Workflow Task (At Inbasket).
Using WF ,Lifecycle and ItemType..................
One Document is submitted for a review. Now, the document state is "Submitted"
Until the Workflow task clicked on Inbasket by assignee it remains "Submitted".
If assignee opens the WF Activity completion sheet, the document state is changed into "In Review". After that he may "reject" or "approve".Is it possible?

I'm not sure I get what you are trying to do. If you look at CMII change management processes. The document approval will go through an ECN. Be carefull with workflows on versionable itemtypes, we shouldn't allow it.
From the inbasket, it will open a vote dialog which will potentially allow you to move to another activity in the workflow. Then, potentially if you activated a promotion on the attached lifecycle from the workflow, it can change the state.
For example.....
Take a one review process...
WorkflowActivities Submit>Review>Approve or Reject
Lifecycle states Submitted>In Review> Approved or Rejected
States:
Submitted -> User submit for review. Now Item State is submitted.
In review -> The item is at Inbasket of Assignee. Until opening the item, it's state remains as "Submitted". If assignee once opens the activity completion sheet then it automatically promoted as "In Review".
Is it Possible?
