I want to do this in a . Net program. It seems I can do it via writing to the tables directly. Was hoping there are methods on Item to set xclass property instead of using direct SQL.

Hi fdxu168, I'm pretty sure it's possible to use the IOM to set the extended classification, though I don't think there are any specific methods. I'll see if I can dig up a sample for you. It's definitely better to use AML or IOM methods to create/update data than to use direct SQL. Eli

Hi fdxu168, Here is some sample IOM for creating an item (Part) with a specific xClass, where "inn" is an Innovator object.

Item part = inn.newItem("Part","add");
Item part_xclass = part.createRelationship("Part_xClass","add");
Item xclass = part_xclass.createRelatedItem("xClass","get");
xclass.setProperty("name","MyClass");
