How to stop\pause life cycle promotion to edit a part?

Question

I need to edit some Part properties such as State, Release Date, Revs, etc. 
 But everytime a Part is edited a new version is created where the Rev increments. I do not want this to happen. 
 I want to edit the part and have it not create a new version.

Hi, 
 Depending on your Aras version, you can use the claim flag to prevent that a new version is created. But it only works reliable in newer Innovator versions...or in really old ones. -> Will the upcoming Innovator 12 edit concept lead to tons of nonsense revisions? If you want to deactivate the automatic revisions completely, just go to your ItemType and change Discipline to "Manual" in the "versioning" settings.
