Speeding up a simple Innovator implementation

Hello all We're using Aras Innovator in our startup company to manage our BOM. I find it to be a bit slow in loading/opening windows/saving changes, etc. Is there anything I can do to speed things up? What dictates the speed of response? Note I am not an expert in IT so please assume very little knowledge :) Our implementation: Aras is installed on a simple Windows server used only for ARAS. It's not a fast machine, but not ridiculously slow either - I can get specs if relevant. It's accessed via Firefox by my Win7 PC - I am currently the only user. PC is high spec machine for CAD. They're both on the same wired network. Many thanks Bob

  • Bob An upgrade to SP9 "could" be done by yourself, but it is not recommended. The reason is that there are a number of changes to the core to support the removal of client configurations that were needed for Firefiox & IE.  You cannot use an SP5 database with SP9 - they need to match the code tree. The unfortunate, sort answer is you will need to rebuild a new SP9 environment.  You can try to move some of your data with AML queries to speed up the process.  But this needs to be done in order. This is the huge value point of the subscription.  You may want to look at that and see if you can gain any traction with your leadership there - value of subscription vs. cost to pay for consultant.  Based on your product I am sure there is value for your team in all of our applications from requirements management, to quality, to manufacturing process planning.  You can even user Aras as a CRM...we do.   Sorry this is not the answer you want.  I hope we can keep you in the family!   D
