Hello,
I have created a document and I have attached a file, if I want to make changes in this file[Preliminary or in Review state], I need to attach a new one file with the new changes or there is a way in Aras to save these changes in the existing file? I hope you understand my concern.
Thank you in advance!
Hi Maria,
1. When I say that you do not have to delete the old version of the file, I mean that you can simply replace the current file with the new version of the file by selecting the replace option using the Manage File selector. Using this approach you will have only one file. You can view earlier versions of the document using the Item Versions window. You can find this view under the Views > Revisions menu option. See the below screenshots.
2. You are correct in saying that there is no connector between Revit and Aras. Although templates are commonly used with a connector you can still manually apply the concept of templates. For example, if you wanted your users to have a starting point for a new Revit file you would follow similar steps to the ones I have outlined below:
a. Create a new Document inside of Aras and mark it as a template
b. Direct users to the specific template you would like them use as a starting point for their Revit files
c. User manually searches inside of Aras Innovator for this particular document marked as a template
d. User manually opens the Revit template file, begins their work and saves with a different name
e. User creates a new document within Aras and attaches the new Revit file
