New install IIS question

Hi, I am trying to install the latest version of aras innovator and in the install guide it says there is support for windows server 2016 but at the same time the highest version of IIS is 8 which I don't believe you can install on windows server 2016. I made it through the install and now when I try to navigate to the new instance, I just receive this message: The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred. Is there something else I need to do in order to get the install to work on windows server 2016 that isn't included in the install guide?
