Can you confirm what are the search criteria used in this search ? This might happen when you try to convert the advanced search to Simple Search. Try clearing the Cache in Admin action menu.

Hope you doing well and thanks for the quick response.

Am not sure how to check the search criteria for particular item type search.

below is the search page i see when i click on the item type

Currently it shows simple search only but how and when it was set for advanced search is not known. 

Clearing cache means are you talking about the clear client metadata cache or something else

Can you please give me the clear steps to check the search criteria and clearing them.

It depends on user who change to advanced search. If it is changed, then it will be stored as preference. Once you clear the cache and preferences it will be set to simple search

In ARAS you can try doing reset preferences.

One more question to you. Suppose one of the user wants to view long description in search window.

How can i add one or more columns to search grid. I tried by right clicking the column heading row and selected insert column but got the below error.

How can i select more columns to insert that into my search grid?

If you want to make it visible only for one user then custom method and lot of work is involved. If you want to show to all user, then go to Item types --> Part --> Properties tab --> Search for property you want to make it visible to user and uncheck is hidden for that property. Re login to application to see the changes.
